THE STORY

I used to have severe acne — until I discovered functional medicine.

After feeling dismissed by doctors, I walked into a functional dermatology clinic not knowing what to expect. After lab testing (urine/stool/blood), I was prescribed diet + lifestyle changes and supplements. My acne went away. My mind was blown.

Before/after functional medicine

NOW

I'm partnering with my functional dermatology clinic to create an app that supports acne patients during treatment.

This project is still in progress, currently in the user testing phase/mid-fidelity. The app would help patients:

  • Track complicated supplement/treatment schedules

  • Track their progress photos

  • Journal and track mental/emotional states

Here are some open questions:

  1. How do users want to interact with an app like this? For example, the info architecture on the left breaks out tracking by different times of day. On the right, tracking is broken out by different parts of treatment.

Mid-fidelity iterations (NOT final!)

  1. How do we enable flexibility? For example, one person might appreciate checking in multiple times a day, others may like to do so once a day or once a week?

  1. How do we infuse the experience with a sense of progress and positive encouragement? Celebrate wins? Mediate fallbacks? Given that healing is non-linear, how can we support the patient emotionally in their journey through all its ups and downs?

To be updated!

This is just a sneak peak, since designs are still in progress.
